If you want a reminder at where you or your opponents in previous tournaments click here for 2006 results, 2007 results. As last year, games start at either 6.45pm or 7.30pm.

With 32 teams and 14 or 16 weeks we have changed the format slightly.

  • Round 1 - four groups of 8 teams playing each other once. (7 weeks)
  • Round 2 - four leagues containing 8 teams playing each other once. (7 weeks)
  • Round 3 – knockout (2 weeks)

Edinburgh 2008 begans on Monday April 28th and will run for a period of fourteen weeks (28th July) [or sixteen weeks (August 11th) if your team qualifies for the final two knockout stages].

We are hoping to run a few women's games or traiing sessions so any individual girls interested in playing please get them to contact us. We had about 14 girls down last year and are expecting to expand on that this year. We will also look into brining down the SFA's womens development coach. That was a great success last year and all the girls enjoyed it.

Venue

The same stunning venue as last year, The Edinburgh Academy pitches off East Fettes Avenues near Inverleith Park.

The Format

Games start at either 6.45pm or 7.30pm. With 32 teams and 16 weeks the format is as below:

  • Round 1 - four groups of 8 teams playing each other once. (7 weeks)
  • Round 2 - four leagues containing 8 teams playing each other once. (7 weeks)
  • Round 3 – knockout (2 weeks)

It has been structured so that you get to play against lots of different teams. Round 2 should allow you to end up in a league of teams with similar abilities, giving you something to play for right until the end. The teams are seeded according to last year’s placements and estimated ability.

Just to be clear, the top two teams in each group in Round 1 will go into the Champions League, second two into the European Cup, third two into the Shield, and the final two into the Plate.

The remaining two weeks in Round 3 will then split into knockout, amongst the top half of each league. Each league will compete for prizes. Unlike last season, teams in the lower half of the leagues in round two will not proceed to the knockout stages.

Games carry 2 points for a win, 1 for a draw, and zero for a loss. Don’t forget to practice those penalty shoot-outs. After each game you will have a penalty shoot-out against the team you have just played against, regardless of the result in the game. Penalty shoot-outs carry one point.

Edinburgh 2007 Results
